Slow starts, winless beginnings, and struggling seasons are not unfamiliar territory for Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow. The 2025 NFL season marks a redemption year for him. He aims to tackle slow starts, secure maximum early wins, and avoid the struggles of past seasons. In the Monday Night Football game, by defeating the Washington Commanders(31-17)–an NFC Championship contender from the 2024 season led by no-longer-rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels–Burrow demonstrated a refined approach to winning with finesse! Cincinnati Bengals shared eight Instagram snapshots with the caption: Nearly showtime

It was the second snapshot of the Bengals’ Instagram post that Joe Burrow reposted on his Instagram story. It had no music playing in the background. Instead, it showed Joe Burrow changing his stance–looking intensely, probably strategizing against the Commanders, pursing his lips in contemplation, and carrying a “frowning eyebrows” expression. It seemed tough, impossible, and unlikely, but Burrow made it happen! This is how the quarterback chose to celebrate: to remember what it took to get there! To remember what made his conviction turn into a reality. The “frowning eyes” expression could also be attributed to Joe Burrow’s perfectionist nature!

Laura Rutledge calls Joe Burrow a perfectionist

No matter how many wins he accumulates, Joe Burrow is a proven perfectionist. In a post-game conversation from the gridiron with sideline reporter Laura Rutledge, the quarterback discussed the areas of improvement, acknowledged mistakes he made, and highlighted his classic quarterback throw to Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones, who is also known as “Chuck Sizzle.”

Laura Rutledge: How did you feel today out there?Joe Burrow: Still got some kinks to work out. Some good plays. Some bad plays. That’s football, but good to make those mistakes in the preseason this year rather than the regular season. Rutledge: You mentioned the importance of playing in the preseason, and the timing, the rhythm…how would you assess where that is right now?Burrow: Yeah, it’s a work in progress. Just like training camp in the preseason.

I think we played really well throughout our training camp. Our preseason game last week, I was really happy with the most part…today, like I said, some good, some bad. So, I gotta clean up some of those mistakes.

Rutledge: What do you want to clean up specifically?Burrow: Two balls on the ground, I missed the first third down. Took a bad sack. I've probably had those…those are the ones that I wanted.Ruledge: I know that you’re a perfectionist...let’s talk about the positive…the touchdown throw to Charlie Jones. For us, we don’t understand how you do that; what do you see there?Burrow: Yeah, we wanted to come out of the huddle tempo, so try to put them on their heels a little bit, and come out of the huddle quick…get it snapped. That’s a throw that I work quite a bit; I was able to draw my arm angle a little bit, and to put it on, and Chuck(Charlie Jones) made it a great play. Also Read: The Rich Eisen Show finally paid off for Rich Eisen-as he returns to SportsCenter after 20 years | NFL News - Times of India
