City police chief reacts to Bengaluru stampede after assuming charge

Hours after taking charge as the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh reacted to the stampede in the city that clamed 11 lives on June 4, 2025, stating that the police are investigating based on the FIR filed and would continue to investigate systematically.

He was referring to the stampede case filed in the Cubbon Park police station limits. “I had taken charge late in the night and met some of the officials. I have called others to discuss about the plans and the progress of the investigation,” he said .

“The investigations is on and a few arrests have been made. However, it is too early to share the details of the investigations,” he added .

He said that while the city police is capable, there are challenges. We have to take these challenges and work for the betterment of the society. He added that the process of handing over the case to the CID is still being discussed.
