 UP man thrashed with kicks and punches by wife, in-laws; FIR registered

BAREILLY: A bizarre incident has surfaced from Pilibhit where a husband-wife quarrel over samosas escalated into violence, said police.Shivam Kumar, a resident of Anandpur, lives with his wife Sangeeta.

On August 30, Sangeeta had asked him to bring samosas, but he returned home empty-handed and cited that he forget, which led to an argument between the two.The next day, on August 31, Sangeeta called her parents. While initially it seemed the matter would be settled, the situation suddenly turned ugly. Sangeeta, along with her mother Usha, father Ramladaite, and uncle Ramotar, allegedly assaulted Shivam, thrashing him with kicks and punches.Shivam’s mother, Vijay Kumari, lodged a complaint, after which police registered an FIR against Sangeeta, her parents, and uncle. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.Pilibhit SSP Abhishek Yadav told TOI, "Shivam sustained minor injuries. There are visible marks of injury, but no serious harm. While it has been said that the beating happened over samosas, investigation is underway and other reasons may also come to light."
