Classmates from the 1998-99 SSLC batch of Sri Kottureshwara Composite Pre-University College extend financial support to the family of their late friend Mahantesh during an event in Gangavathi
Gangavathi (Koppal): Former students of Sri Kottureshwara Composite Pre-University College’s 1998-99 SSLC batch have raised Rs 1.2 lakh for the family of their late classmate Mahantesh and invested the amount in fixed deposits of Rs 60,000 each for his two children at the Gangavathi post office.The fixed deposit documents were handed over to the family during a programme held at the Sri Channabasava Tata’s temple premises on Sunday. The classmates met Mahantesh’s family members, conveyed their condolences and formally presented the documents.The alumni mobilised the contribution following Mahantesh’s recent demise and decided to secure the future of his children by creating fixed deposits in their names.
The documents were handed over in the presence of family members and friends.Family member Lakshmikant and teacher S Chandrappa thanked the former students for their encouragement, support and financial assistance, saying the gesture had given the bereaved family strength during a difficult period.Recalling their school days with Mahantesh, the alumni said they would continue to extend support and guidance for the children’s education, future and other needs.
They added that the initiative aimed not only to provide immediate financial assistance but also to assure the family of continued support whenever required.The programme brought together members of the 1998-99 SSLC batch, many of whom reunited to stand by the family in its time of grief.Mahantesh’s wife Sushmita, his children, brother Prakash and other family members attended the programme.The initiative drew widespread appreciation after images and details of the programme went viral on social media, with many hailing it as an example of classmates coming together to support a friend’s family in distress.
