Guwahati: Blood-stained clothes that Samim Ahmed was wearing and had disposed of before fleeing the spot of the fatal road accident that claimed three lives on Apr 26 was recovered by the police on Friday from a location near the accident spot at Mathaghari in Guwahati, police said.The mobile phone of one of the deceased women was also recovered from the same spot.Samim and Puja Saha of Goalpara district, Aksangsha Saikia of Charadeo and Armina Ahmed of Bongaigaon district had consumed alcohol worth Rs 19,000 at a bar cum restaurant located at Bhangagarh in the city from 11pm on Saturday till 3am on Sunday before they met the accident at 4.02am, which claimed the lives of the three women.However, police said, Samim instantly fled the accident spot and initially went to Shillong and then to Dibrugarh, from where police apprehended him on Monday.
Samim is currently in police custody.Based on his statements, police on Friday recovered the clothes soaked in Samim’s blood, which he disposed of in a drain at a location about 100-200 m away from the accident site. Police also recovered a mobile phone belonging to Puja.Later, police took Samim to Shillong for further investigation.
