Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Heavy rain has battered Himachal Pradesh, with several roads closed and bridges destroyed in the Shimla and Lahaul and Spiti districts, following fresh incidents of cloudburst flash floods in the state since Wednesday.

Over 300 roads, including two National Highways, have been closed, while a police post in Ganvi Ravine was swept away due to the floods.

In the Shimla district, heavy rainfall led to the collapse of a bus stand and damaged several adjoining shops. Additionally, two bridges were washed away, cutting off access to the Koot and Kyav panchayats. No casualties have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, in the Lahaul and Spiti district, cloudbursts triggered flash floods in the Mayad Valley, causing the collapse of two more bridges in the Karpat, Changut, and Udgos Nala areas.

The situation has become critical in Karpat village, with residents relocating to safer areas as a precaution. According to local resident Ranjit Lahauli, nearly ten bighas of agricultural land have been destroyed. Relief operations are currently underway.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, a total of 325 roads, including NH-305 (Aut-Sainj) and NH-505 (Khab to Gramphoo), have been closed, including 179 roads in Mandi and 71 in Kullu.

The rain has also affected school students and office goers, who faced inconvenience after a tree fell on the Circular Road near Tolland early Wednesday, blocking buses until it was removed.

Orange Alert Issued For These Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for likely heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas of Chamba, Kangra and Mandi on Thursday, and a yellow alert for heavy rain in four to six districts from Friday to Sunday.
