Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday launched a scathing attack on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, condemning his remarks calling for a review of secularism and socialism in the Indian Constitution.

In a strongly worded post on X, Mr. Vijayan described Mr. Hosabale’s remarks as a “brazen attempt to dismantle the core ideals of our Republic.” He asserted that secularism and socialism are not mere additions to the Constitution, but fundamental values that define the very identity of India.

The Chief Minister also criticised the RSS leader’s invocation of the Emergency period to question these principles, calling it a “deceitful move.” He accused the RSS of colluding with the Indira Gandhi government during the Emergency “for its own survival,” and labelled the current use of that era to undermine the Constitution as “sheer hypocrisy and political opportunism.”

“Every citizen who believes in democracy must raise their voice against this communal agenda,” Mr. Vijayan stated.
