Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked the newly appointed licensed land surveyors to protect the rights of land owners in determining the boundaries of lands.

Exhorting the surveyors to work responsibly, he said the government will have to face the consequences if they committed mistakes. The Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting organised in connection with handing over of appointment letters to surveyors of the Revenue department on Sunday (October 19).

He came down heavily on the previous government for not issuing job notifications and said the Congress government was filling vacant posts by issuing notifications from time to time in keeping with its promise. He said the people sent out the previous BRS government for introducing the draconian Dharani Act and portal.

His government scrapped the Dharani soon after coming to power and protected farmers from losing their ownership rights on their lands. The Dharani Act resulted in enabling a handful of people to hold arbitrary authority on lands and the people gave a big mandate against the BRS government when the elections were held.

The Chief Minister asked the officials and employees to cooperate with the government in achieving its goal of making Telangana US $ 3 trillion economy by 2047. Surveyors were partners in the development of the State and “all of us should standby the farmers who are the backbone of the country”.

Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government has appointed 3,456 surveyors to strengthen the Revenue system at the lower level after the BRS government broke its back and destroyed the entire Revenue system for the benefit of its leaders. He appealed to them to work sincerily as the government’s image would be at stake if they did anything wrong.
