Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, through video conferencing, inaugurated the health and wellness centres and urban primary health centres (UPHCs) in Tiruchi on Thursday.
As many as 11 health and wellness centres located at Ambedkar Nagar, Sanjeevi Nagar, Vasanth Nagar, Babu Cetti Road, Amman Nagar, Sangiliandapuram, Star Nagar, Karumandapam, Ammaiyapa Nagar, Cholarajapuram, and Mela Pandamangalam, and two UPHCs at Panjapur and Ariyamangalam under the Tiruchi Corporation limits and two health and wellness centres at Thuraiyur and Manapparai blocks were opened to the public.
The health and wellness centres were established under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) at a cost of ₹25 lakh each, utilising the funds sanctioned by the 15th Finance Commission. Each facility will have a doctor, a staff nurse, a health inspector, and an attendant, and will function from 8 a.m. to noon and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Collector V. Saravanan and Corporation Commissioner L. Madhubalan were present at the inauguration held at the health and wellness centre in Cholarajapuram.
