Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday (May 30, 2025) ordered the establishment of State-run arts and science colleges in four more districts, in addition to the recently inaugurated colleges in 11 districts. These four colleges are also set to function from the academic year 2025-26, and will admit over 1,120 students every year.
The colleges will be established at K.V. Kuppam in Vellore district, Thuraiyur in Tiruchi district, Ulundurpet in Kallakurichi district, and Chengam in Tiruvannamalai district.
The announcement followed representations received from people in those districts requesting colleges.
On May 26, Mr. Stalin, via video conference from the Secretariat in Chennai, inaugurated new State-run arts and science colleges at 11 locations, namely Cheyyur in Chengalpattu district, Alandur in Chennai district, Panruti in Cuddalore district, Natham in Dindigul district, Kolakkanatham in Perambalur district, Manamadurai in Sivaganga district, Thiruvidaimaruthur in Thanjavur district, Coonoor in the Nilgiris district, Ottapidaram in Thoothukudi district, Muthupettai in Tiruvarur district, and Vikravandi in Villupuram district.
They are set to function from the academic year 2025-26 and will admit over 3,000 students every year.
