CM to open school games on Oct. 21

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the 67th Kerala School Sports and Games, to be held on the lines of the Olympics, at University Stadium here on October 21.

Actor Keerthi Suresh will be the brand ambassador of the games, to be held across 12 venues. The main venue will be Central Stadium. It will host 12 events, including tug-of-war. Athletics events will be held at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. Throw events will be held at University Stadium.

The Minister said only minor maintenance remained to be completed at the stadiums. Technical officials to monitor the events, selectors, and volunteers had been appointed.

Five kitchens have been set up for the games, including one at Putharikandam grounds that can seat 2,500 students for lunch at a time. The valedictory too will be held at University Stadium.
