CMC bags Centre of Excellence award for diabetes

The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore has been awarded the status of Centre of Excellence by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).

According to a press release, the recognition was based on an assessment of the capacity in education, training, patient care, outreach, and research of the CMC. The award was an acknowledgment of the cumulative efforts, growth, and substantial contributions of many in the department over 25 years.

The CMC holds the distinction of being both an International Diabetes Federation Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care and an Indian Council of Medical Research Collaborating Centre of Excellence (ICMR- CCoE) for Diabetes.

In this regard, CMC thanked all stakeholders, well-wishers, collaborators, faculty, students, educators, laboratory personne,l and pharmacists for helping to achieve the milestone, the release said.
