Whether you’re escaping to the mountains, lounging by the coast, or exploring a village, a weekend getaway isn’t just about a change of scenery. It’s also an opportunity to express your style in a way that’s relaxed yet intentional, finding that sweet spot where comfort, practicality, and personal style intersect.

The trick lies in choosing pieces that can be mixed and matched and opting for breathable fabrics.Linen and cotton are sustainable fabrics available in various colours and prints that can be worn during getaways. Nirali Patel, fashion consultant and stylist, says, “Hemp is breathable, durable, and naturally resistant to odours, and also perfect for repeating. It’s one of the most sustainable fabrics.”Co-ord sets are the new go-to for everyone, as they are versatile and give you a put-together look without much effort.

Sahal, a model, says, “Co-ords are everywhere right now, and they’re perfect for getaways.” ‘The right accessories can transform your look completely’ Curate your accessories like they are the lead actors in your weekend style story. Niki Joshi, a fashion stylist, says, “For men, a pair of classic black wayfarers, a sleek watch, and statement rings do wonders. For women, oversized sunglasses, layered gold chains, hoops, a versatile sling bag, and a silk scarf can elevate even the simplest outfit.

They’re light to carry and transform your look in seconds.”

Sahal adds, “Sunglasses, a clean watch and a cap or bucket hat are great options. For girls, a couple of pieces of gold jewellery and a small scarf can change a whole look.” For Nirali, the key is to always pack pieces that can be styled in multiple ways, “A scarf is my absolute favourite—you can wear it as a top, skirt, belt, or headband, or even use it as a blanket.” Get your makeup right For Niki, the key is to highlight one feature and keep the rest balanced. For a low-key weekend, go with a dewy skin look. “Think tinted moisturiser, cream blush, brushed-up brows, and a tinted lip balm—fresh, light, and breathable. For an adventurous getaway, you can add a pop—bold lips, coloured eyeliner, or glossy lids,” she says.‘A white shirt is a must-have’A white shirt can never go wrong, as it’s comfortable and can be layered over almost everything.

Sanya Navin Agarwal, a fashion stylist, says, “A white shirt with a tie can be paired with a checkered skirt to give a ’90s vibe.”For Sahal, it is “a white tank, loose olive trousers, and a beige linen shirt—half buttoned or just left open. Add clean white sneakers and sunglasses, and you’re set. This look works for beachside cafes or mountain drives. You can’t go wrong with the classics-for guys, a white tee, relaxed pants or shorts, and add an overshirt or jacket if it gets breezy.

For women, oversized shirts as dresses, co-ord sets, or bike shorts with a crop top, are easy but great options.”“Trends keep changing. You should wear what makes you feel confident wherever you go,” says Isha Nagar, fashion designer and stylist.

‘Gender-neutral stuff is in’Sahal says, “Matching lounge sets are big too, but the elevated kind (not your gym tracksuit). Retro sneakers with nicer fits, mesh, or crochet for that summer vibe, and gender-neutral stuff are in.” Niki adds, “Athleisure continues to dominate—co-ord sets, joggers, and oversized hoodies are stylish and functional. Monochrome dressing and bucket hats are weekend winners. Don’t forget a touch of crochet or handwoven elements for that artisanal, resort-ready vibe.” Fashion must-haves: For men: Crisp white shirt: The most versatile piece, whether you’re dressing up for dinner or layering it over a tee for brunchTailored light-wash denim: Not skinny, not baggy—just that perfect straight cut that works across seasonsNeutral utility jacket or overshirt: Great for layering, adds structure, and looks effortlessly cool
