YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government, alleging that women have been the worst affected during its two years in office and accusing it of betrayal, deception and exploitation.
Addressing a State-level meeting of the YSRCP Women’s Wing at the party’s central office under the theme “Two Years of Chandrababu’s Backstabbing Rule”, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that the coalition government had dismantled several welfare measures introduced during the previous YSRCP regime while failing to fulfil its own election promises.
He claimed that despite assurances of women-centric governance and 33% reservation for women, the government had not implemented key commitments made to women. Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said the YSRCP government had already provided 50% reservation for women in local bodies and various public positions, and accused the coalition of making promises without delivering tangible benefits.
Alleging that the coalition had replaced welfare-oriented governance with systematic exploitation and propaganda, he urged women leaders to take the party’s campaign to the grassroots and expose what he described as the government’s failures, including the non-implementation of major assurances made under the “Super Six” scheme.
YSRCP Women’s Wing State president Varudu Kalyani questioned the coalition’s commitment to women’s reservation and asked why women were not being accommodated in Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council seats if the government was genuinely committed to their empowerment.
Former Minister Vidadala Rajini alleged that women leaders associated with the YSRCP were being subjected to harassment and intimidation.
YSRCP State general secretary Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, MP Tanuja Rani, former MLA Bhagyalakshmi, former MP Satyavathi and other party leaders also addressed the gathering. The meeting resolved to intensify outreach programmes across the State to highlight what the party described as the coalition government’s unfulfilled promises and anti-women policies.
