A fisherman, who had fallen off a vallam and spent over four hours stranded at sea, was saved by the Indian Coast Guard on Sunday. An official release said the ICGS Rani Durgavati sighted him in the water while on surveillance patrol and immediately rescued him. He was brought ashore to Karaikal. The Indian Coast Guard Station in Karaikal provided him with medical aid and handed him over to the police, it added.
