The Cochin Port Authority (CPA) has signed 10 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for projects worth nearly ₹10,000 crore during the five-day India Maritime Week 2025 that concluded in Mumbai on Friday (October 31, 2025).

The MoUs include two signed with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). One of them, the largest among the lot, is on a ₹3,800-crore infrastructure development project conceived to build a block fabrication facility in collaboration with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering. The CPA and CSL also signed an MoU worth ₹1,500 crore to set up an international ship repair facility. Another major MoU was signed with IGTPL DP World to enhance handling facilities at the International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vallarpadam at a cost of ₹1,500 crore.

The CPA signed an MoU with the Dredging Corporation of India to carry out dredging for the maintenance of channels and basins at the Cochin port. The project is estimated to cost ₹800 crore.

The remaining MoUs were signed with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited, Essar Ports, Greenix Experiences Private Limited and Cisternina Logistics Pvt. Ltd. The proposed projects include development of LNG bunkering facility, cruise tourism infrastructure, and capacity augmentation.

Sources in the CPA said that the execution of all the projects was set to start at the earliest on completion of the necessary procedures. Of the 10 MoUs, six were signed with nominated public sector undertakings. The projects have been exempted from tender procedures. Formalities to start tender procedures for the remaining projects are almost complete, and the process will be initiated soon, the sources said. The MoUs are non-binding, but the entities who signed the documents are expected to grab the deals through bidding, it is learnt.
