New Delhi: On Wednesday, June 4 the ever-growing “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) youth party organized its first official press conference in New Delhi given that the group has garnered massive social media response. During the event, party representatives highlighted important demands, announced a country-wide protest on 6th June, and demanded immediate changes in the education and employment system in India.

It was initiated by an Indian student, Abhijeet Dipke, who resides in the United States. It has developed into a massive youth campaign since the beginning of the year. The group represents the anger of learners and young jobless people when they sense they’re unheard by the system, the group says.

During the press conference, CJP principals emphasized a lot about education-related matters. They condemned the opposing elements to the competitive examination, such as the alleged paper leaks, mistakes in the paper outcome, and transparency-related issues in the evaluation method. The party demanded that measures be taken to take charge and asked for the reforms of the examination system so as to regain people’s confidence in the system.

The party also pointed to the growing unemployment and job insecurity in India among the young people. While many students are prepared with years of schooling and education, they are having difficulty landing meaningful employment, CJP leaders said. They claimed that the government’s efforts need to be greater to create employment opportunities and support young professionals.

In the course of the briefing, the organization revealed a five-point agenda that it called a platform. It also aims at tackling unemployment, educational standards, transparency of the examinations, accountability of government and various issues affecting young people nationwide.

The party has also released the names of several attentive representatives, who will represent the movement, as well as social media influencers, to bring its message to the masses ahead of the planned demonstration on June 6 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The protest will be peaceful with the demands being for reforms, not a political party, organizers said.

The movement has garnered a huge amount of online discussion and millions of followers have taken to social media platforms to join in on discussions. The organisation is seen as a focal point by supporters for young people and students who feel helpless in being able to address the usual problems they encounter in education and recruitment systems.

In parallel, there has been growing popularity of the party which has also fueled political discussion. Some opposition leader sources facilitated the venue for the press conference, and party’s all-in-chief Abhijeet Dipke is reportedly set to return to India to join upcoming happenings and protests.

The clock continues to tick in the lead-up to the June 6 protest, and all eyes are on whether the Cockroach Janata Party can make inroads in the real world beyond social media. For now, it sat back to prominent national discussion at its first press conference that issues like examining reforms, youth unemployment, and government accountability have returned.
