Rhodes called Cena out to the ring for the signing of the contract for a Street Fight at Summerslam, but went on to assault the legend upon his refusal to do so.

WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes and legend John Cena were involved in a slugfest on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown as the American Nightmare assaulted the icon following the latter’s refusal to sign the contract for an Undisputed WWE Champion bout between the two at SummerSlam.

Rhodes, who built the scene up for the fight against Cena at the upcoming pay-per-view event, called the leader of the Cenation out to the ring to complete the signing formalities in the presence of Adam Pearce.

Cena received a loud reception as he walked out and explained that Rhodes would get his wish, but not at Summerslam due to work commitments with a movie and emotional exhaustion. Cena closed the contract and left the ring, but Rhodes attacked him, leading to a physical altercation.

The fight spilled into the ring, where Rhodes took possession of the belt and evaded Cena. Cody Rhodes, son of Dusty Rhodes, took advantage of the situation, leveling Cena and putting him through a table with a top-rope splash.

Rhodes then placed a pen in Cena’s hand and forged the legend’s signature on the match contract to conclude the day’s events.

The latest episode of WWE SmackDown delivered an exhilarating show as it featured a high-flying Fatal 4-way match to determine the No.1 contender for the tag team championships, which was topped by Andrade and Rey Fenix as they got the better of DIY, Fraxiom, and the Motor City Guns.

Charlotte Flair defeated Raquel Rodrigues, while Stephanie Vaquer overcame Alba Frye in the women’s singles clashes. Damian Priest secured a victory over Carmelo Hayes by disqualification following interference from Aleister Black.
