Coimbatore city police take these measures to ensure peaceful Ganesh Chaturthi celebration

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police have taken various measures to ensure a peaceful celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi on Aug 27. The police have granted permission for the installation of more than 700 Ganesh idols throughout the city.

They have heightened security in sensitive and high-risk areas.The city police commissioner has allocated four constables, drawn from the armed reserve and Tamil Nadu special police, to each of the seven assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) in the city. These constables are equipped with helmets, lathis and shields to maintain order. They will patrol the city with the ACPs to ensure a peaceful celebration.Seven new sports utility vehicles (SUVs) have been provided to the ACPs, replacing the older vehicles. This upgrade is intended to improve mobility and response time during the festival.
