College football fans were stunned on Sunday, October 19, 2025, as the latest Associated Press poll shook up the rankings after a weekend full of surprises. Nine Top 25 teams lost, forcing major changes across the standings.

The biggest news came from Vanderbilt University, which entered the AP Top 10 for the first time since 1947, marking a historic moment for the Commodores. Ohio State remained at No. 1 after a strong 34-0 win over Wisconsin.

Vanderbilt Commodores make historic climb into top 10

Vanderbilt’s rise into the Top 10 comes after a thrilling 31-24 win over then-No. 10 LSU on October 18, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. This was their first victory over LSU since 1990. At 6-1, the Commodores are enjoying their best start since 1950 and have defeated two ranked opponents this season.

Their seven-spot jump in the AP poll reflects their strong performance on the field, especially after bouncing back from a loss to Alabama two weeks ago.

Head coach Clark Lea expressed excitement about the ranking, saying, “Our players have worked so hard. This is a huge moment for our program and our fans.”The Top 10 now includes Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Mississippi, Miami, and Vanderbilt.

Texas A&M moved up to No. 3 for the first time since 1995, while Georgia Tech returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2014. Miami fell seven spots after a surprising loss to unranked Louisville, and Mississippi dropped three spots following a defeat against Georgia. Also Read: How To Watch LSU Vs.
