Colton McKivitz signs $45 million contract extension with San Francisco 49ers

Colton McKivitz has a new contract with the San Francisco 49ers. On Monday, September 8, 2025, the team gave him a three-year deal worth $45 million. Out of that, $27 million is guaranteed.

This news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN. McKivitz is now the second-highest paid player from West Virginia University in the NFL. Only Geno Smith of the Las Vegas Raiders makes more money. McKivitz was in the last year of his old deal and wanted to stay in San Francisco.

Colton McKivitz's yearly payment under the new contract is approximately $15 million. That leaves him behind Geno Smith, who inked a $75 million agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders.

He started for the 49ers at right tackle in 2023. In 2024, he permitted only two sacks, a significant reduction from the nine he had yielded the previous year.
