The Commissioners of Bengaluru’s newly formed city corporations conducted early morning field inspections across their respective corporations on Friday, while the Central City Corporation Commissioner chaired a review meeting with senior officials.
Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommula Sunil Kumar began the inspection at 6 a.m., visiting the auto tipper mustering point in Yelahanka Satellite Ward and the pourakarmika mustering point at Thindlu.
He instructed auto tippers and pourakarmikas to report to duty on time and said that attendance be strictly recorded. He instructed officials to maintain cleanliness along the drains, repair damaged footpaths, and take strict action against bulk waste violators. He further directed shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness outside their premises or face fines.
In Jayanagar Ward, South City Corporation Commissioner K.N. Ramesh reviewed mustering points and black spots. He instructed officials to conduct mass cleanliness drives, repair damaged slabs on footpaths, and ensure sanitation near Jayanagar Shopping Complex. He also interacted with residents, assuring swift redressal of civic concerns.
Bengaluru West Commissioner, Rajendra K.V., inspected areas, including Havanur Circle, Basaveshwaranagar, and Rajajinagar ward. He stressed the upkeep of mustering points, ordered mosquito control measures at Netaji Subhash Chandra Park, and directed quality checks at Indira Canteens. He flagged dangling optical fibre cables as a pedestrian hazard, instructed compliance checks before issuing trade licences, and emphasised desilting of stormwater drains.
East Zone Commissioner Ramesh D.S. carried out an inspection from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. He reviewed stormwater drain works near Iblur Junction, Wipro, Sunny Brooks, and Balagere, urging speedy completion. He directed land acquisition for road widening projects on Doddakannahalli Road and the Sarjapur-Varthur State Highway. At Varthur Kodi Bridge and Panathur, he inspected ongoing drainage and road works, stressing on early completion to prevent flooding.
Central Zone Review
Meanwhile, Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan chaired a review meeting with officials from the revenue, health, works, finance, and electrical departments. He called for increased property tax collection, elimination of garbage black spots, pothole repairs, better streetlight maintenance, and stronger sanitation measures. He urged officials to work proactively and fulfill their responsibilities.
