Cong demands re-exam for MMC recruitment over admit card issue

Margao: Margao Congress block convener Savio Coutinho on Saturday made a strong demand for a re-examination for the candidates who applied for posts at the Margao Municipal Council (MMC).

He alleged that a large number of candidates failed to take the exam as they didn’t receive their call letters or admit cards.“Our charge against the MMC with regard to the recruitment process stands vindicated with less than 50% of the candidates attending the written test today, at the two centres in Navelim and Cuncolim,” Coutinho said.He earlier alleged that call letters or admit cards of hundreds of candidates who applied for LDC or supervisor posts at the MMC were deliberately not dispatched.

“We are informed that many of the candidates who went to the centres to answer the test were sent back for want of a valid admit card,” Coutinho alleged.He demanded an inquiry into the lapse on the part of the MMC and the rescheduling of the written tests with prior intimation to all the applicants. He urged CM Pramod Sawant, urban development minister Vishwajit Rane, and the directorate of municipal administration to take immediate action in this matter.
