Congratulatory messages poured in from various quarters for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate and Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday (September 9, 2025), following his election as the next Vice-President of India.
Soon after the results were announced, President Droupadi Murmu complimented Mr. Radhakrishnan, noting that his decades of rich experience in public life would contribute significantly to the country’s progress. She extended her best wishes to him for a successful and impactful tenure.

Through a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “Congratulations to Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan Ji on winning the 2025 Vice Presidential election. His life has always been devoted to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalised. I am confident that he will be an outstanding VP, who will strengthen our Constitutional values and enhance Parliamentary discourse.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Mr. Modi’s Cabinet colleagues also extended best wishes to the Vice-President elect.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said: “I firmly believe that your sagacity as a leader who has risen from the grassroots of the society and profound knowledge about administration will help us in bringing out the best in our parliamentary democracy to serve the marginalised. I extend my warmest wishes to you for your journey as the custodian of the sanctity of the Upper House.”

Stating that throughout his distinguished public life, Mr. Radhakrishnan has embodied humility, integrity and a deep commitment to service, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said: “His vast experience, profound knowledge of constitutional and legislative affairs and unwavering connect with the people will further enrich his new role. I am confident that under his leadership, the Rajya Sabha will scale new heights and our parliamentary traditions will be further strengthened. My best wishes to him for a successful and impactful tenure.”
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: “...Your foresight, contemplation, and continuous active engagement will undoubtedly lead to an unprecedented enhancement in the dignity and prestige of the Rajya Sabha. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also took to X to congratulate Mr. Radhakrishnan. “I extend my best wishes to him for a successful, fulfilling, and distinguished tenure devoted to serving our great nation and advancing its progress and prosperity. I am confident that his vast knowledge and rich experience will further strengthen and uphold our democratic values,” he said.
