Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused the ruling Congress party of kneeling-down before minority voters to win in the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Playing the communal card, he said that the majority population would face hardships, including a threat to their normal living, if the Congress candidate wins the seat. He also reiterated his demand for a full-fledged probe into the demise of Maganti Gopinath.

Addressing a roadshow at Shivaji statue in Shaikpet as part of the election campaign on Saturday, he said that the contest would be between BJP and Congress.

Mr. Sanjay alleged that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy are conspiring to take over the assets of late MLA Maganti Gopinath, demanding the latter act on a complaint lodged by Gopinath’s son, Taraq. He claimed that Maganti Sunitha, the BRS candidate, is playing dirty tricks to grab Gopinath’s assets and has two Aadhaar cards.

Mr. Sanjay demanded an investigation into Gopinath’s death, alleging that Mr. Rama Rao had harassed the ‘original family’ members of Gopinath. His mother Mahananda Kumari was was not allowed to see him in the hospital, he said. Mr. Sanjay made communal remarks, saying that the elections are a contest between two religious groups, and alleged that Congress and BRS are offering ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 per vote. He also promised to invite Home Minister Amit Shah for the development of Peddamma temple. He also warned the government against demolition of temples. Mr. Sanjay said victory of party candidate L. Deepak Reddy will witness development.
