The body of Congress leader Raja Narsinga Rao’s mother was discovered in an agricultural well in Nachupally village, Kodimial mandal in Jagtial, on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Premlatha, 70, was allegedly bludgeoned to death with a boulder by unidentified assailants, who then dumped her body in the well. Villagers found the body early on Thursday and alerted police. Her body was retrieved and sent for post-mortem.
An investigation is under way by the Kodimial police to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
This comes shortly after two similar murders were reported in Telangana within 24 hours in July. In Medak, Congress leader Marelli Anil was shot dead on the night of July 14 while returning to his village in his SUV. Also, Communist Party of India (CPI) State Council member Chandu Naik was shot dead during his morning walk at Malakpet on July 15.
