Laxman Savadi, MLA and Congress leader, has expressed suspicions about a conspiracy behind the attempts at exhuming bodies, as a to defame Dharmasthala.

He told reporters in Athani in Belagavi district on Sunday (August 17, 2025), that there could be a bigger force behind the masked man, who is the police informer.

“The state government should order a narco-analysis of the masked man. It should find out who is behind him. Is he a pawn in a bigger game to defame the holy place? Whether he is an informer or approver? Whether there has been a crime committed, or is there nothing at all? The investigation should start with him. If it is found that he is part of a conspiracy, the total amount spent on digging and attempts at exhuming the bodies should be recovered from him,” Mr. Savadi said.
