Haryana Congress incharge B.K. Hariprasad on Tuesday said the party is working to strengthen its State unit and announced that a disciplinary committee will soon be set up in Haryana to ensure discipline and accountability within the organisation.

“A political affairs committee will be formed to resolve internal party issues on an official platform,” he told a press conference here. Earlier, the party had held a meeting attended by district presidents.

Rao Narender Singh, the newly appointed president of the Haryana Congress, said the meeting directed leaders to appoint booth agents to monitor voter lists in their respective areas and accelerate the ‘vote chor-gaddi chhod’ campaign.

“We discussed in-depth issues related to civic elections, district offices, women’s participation, and organisational expansion, and issued necessary guidelines,” Mr. Singh said. Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, he alleged that crime and unemployment are rampant in Haryana and that the government has failed on all fronts.

Accusing the BJP of deceiving the people, Mr. Singh said, “The BJP had promised to provide ₹2,100 per month to every woman during the elections, but later announced that it would limit the scheme to only 20 lakh women. But only 1.71 lakh women have been registered so far, even though the government already has Aadhaar and Family ID data. This means the BJP is once again deceiving the public by conducting a separate registration process.”

“For the past six years, Haryana has ranked first in crime. More than 30 examination papers were leaked during the BJP government, and people from other States were given priority in recruitment. Recruitment dramas are only staged during elections,” he alleged.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the public had entrusted the Congress with the role of Opposition, which the party would fulfil with full strength.

Mr. Hooda alleged that farmers were being exploited in the name of crop procurement in the markets. He said that the voice of the people would be raised strongly by the Congress from the streets to the Assembly.
