The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Telangana Congress has decided to take up a serious campaign in support of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Theft Campaign’ and take it deep into the villages of Telangana, ensuring that the public discusses the issue.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and others unveiled a campaign logo highlighting the issue of ‘Vote Theft’ on the occasion.
The PAC also extended its appreciation to the INDIA bloc for nominating constitutional expert Justice B.Sudarshan Reddy from Telangana as its candidate for the upcoming Vice-Presidential elections.
Speaking at the meeting, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that massive ‘vote theft’ had taken place across the country, enabling the BJP to secure a third consecutive term. “It was only due to Rahul Gandhi’s efforts and his detailed exposure of the issue that a people’s movement is now taking shape,” he said.
The meeting also discussed the steps to be taken in the wake of the recent High Court judgment, particularly on ensuring 42% reservations for Backward Classes in local body polls. If the legal issues create hurdles for the enhanced reservations, the party would ensure that a minimum of 42% tickets would be given to the BCs.
The leaders also noted that the Congress government was delivering excellent results in governance, with flagship schemes like Rythu Bharosa, farm loan waiver, ration cards, Indiramma housing, and supply of fine rice receiving overwhelming public response. They also discussed the need to take the Jubilee Hills Assembly byelection as a prestigious battle.
The PAC also condemned the ‘disinformation campaign’ by BRS over the alleged shortage of urea, calling it a deliberate attempt to spread fear among farmers. The leaders resolved to counter such propaganda with facts and move forward with a concrete action plan.
