Congress workers here staged a protest against BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, accusing him of involvement in a ₹500-crore land scam in Karnataka.

The protesters, under the banner of the Congress block committee, marched to the BJP-ruled municipal office here and burned Mr. Chandrasekhar’s effigy. They also demanded his resignation.

INTUC former district president Manoj Chingannur inaugurated the march. He alleged that the BJP had become a party that prioritises money-making scams over the interests of the government and people.

Block Congress president C.V. Satheesh presided over the function. Congress leaders K. Bhavadas, A. Krishnan, C. Khader Mohammed, Haridas Machingal, Boban Mattumantha, V. Mohan, K.R. Sararaj, C. Nikhil and S. Ravindran spoke.
