The Congress Saturday asked PM Narendra Modi why he stopped Operation Sindoor on May 10 and under whose pressure, after IAF chief Air Chief Marshal A P Singh said “at least” five Pakistani fighter jets and “one large aircraft” were downed during Operation Sindoor.

Congress MP and party’s communication in charge Jairam Ramesh said on X, “… it becomes even more shocking that the PM suddenly stopped Operation Sindoor. Where did the pressure on the PM come from, and why did he have to relent so quickly?”

Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat said, “I have faith in the Army and in the government. The Army says the incident took place on April 22, followed by Operation Sindoor. In all these days, why didn’t the government give an answer? Even when discussions took place in the House, was their mouth sealed shut?”

TMC MP Sagarika Ghose said: “I am glad the IAF chief has set the record straight but some questions remain. First, why did it take 3 months for the government to put out such a statement during which Pakistan was able to push its own narrative across global media. Second, why didn’t the Defence Minister reveal this in the House. And third, given this clear air superiority of India, why did Modi hastily agree to a ceasefire announced by Donald Trump.”
