A 24-year-old construction worker was electrocuted at a building in Gachibowli on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Mohd Yousuf, a resident of Hafeezpet and a native of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, Yousuf was carrying out glass fitting work on the second floor of the newly-constructed building in Maruthi Nagar when the accident took place at around 11 a.m.
“He was handling iron rods that came in contact with live wires above. And, he fell from the second floor,” said Gachibowli Inspector Mohammed Habibullah Khan.
Co-workers immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital. But, despite efforts by doctors, his condition deteriorated, and he died late at night. His body was shifted for a post-mortem.
A case has been registered and a probe is on to establish whether safety protocols were followed at the construction site.
