Rajinikanth starrer mints Rs 10 crore on second Saturday; Set to cross Rs 250 crore mark domestically

Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' has been performing incredibly well at the box office. Entering its second weekend, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial witnessed a strong surge in collections on Day 10, minting around Rs 10 crore on Saturday.

With this, the action-packed pan-India entertainer comfortably maintains an edge over Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's 'War 2'.According to early trade estimates from Sacnilk, 'Coolie' earned around Rs 10 crore on its second Saturday, taking the film's total collection to Rs 245.50 crore. This comes after an impressive opening week haul of Rs 229.65 crore and a steady Rs 5.85 crore on its ninth day. The weekend growth suggests the Rajinikanth-starrer is set to maintain its momentum well into the coming days.

Theatre occupancy

In Tamil Nadu, 'Coolie' continued to lead with robust numbers. The film recorded an overall 35.44% Tamil occupancy on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Morning shows witnessed a modest turnout of 19.05%, but footfalls picked up significantly by the evening and night, hitting 41% and 47.76% respectively. The trend highlights the Thalaivar mania, with audiences still flocking to theatres for the big-screen experience.

'Coolie: The Powerhouse' for its Hindi release, the film managed an overall 15.93% occupancy across the North belt. While the morning shows opened low at 7.16%, the turnout gradually improved through the day, peaking at 24.85% during night shows. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the Rajinikanth factor and ensemble cast have helped the film hold its ground in the Hindi-speaking market.

Steady numbers in Telugu states

The Telugu version of 'Coolie' also contributed strongly to its Day 10 performance, registering an overall 23.53% occupancy.

Morning shows saw 16.25% attendance, while the night shows climbed to nearly 30%.With Rajinikanth in the lead, the film also features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan in key roles. However, it is Thalaivar's screen presence and charisma that continue to drive footfalls, even as many viewers point out loopholes in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s storytelling. Some critics have gone as far as calling it the director's weakest outing, but Rajinikanth's star power has overshadowed the mixed response.

'Coolie' vs 'War 2'

Meanwhile, 'War 2', starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, collected around Rs 6.25 crore on its Day 10, bringing its total to Rs 214.50 crore. While both films are performing well, Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' currently enjoys a clear edge at the box office.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
