Cops Reveal Siya Goyal's Motive Behind Ketan Agarwal Murder: 'Wanted To Delay Marriage By 3 Years'

Police suspect that Siya's alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, also wanted to postpone marriage for another two to three years, and that the two conspired to kill Ketan.

The Ketan Agarwal murder case has shocked the country, with many questioning why Siya Goyal allegedly chose to plot the murder instead of refusing the marriage.

During questioning, 20-year-old Siya allegedly told investigators that she did not want to marry Ketan. According to an India Today report, she told police that if Ketan was killed, she believed she would get at least three more years before her family began looking for another match.

Police suspect that Siya’s alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, also wanted to postpone marriage for another two to three years, and that the two conspired to kill Ketan.

Investigators have also uncovered fresh details about their relationship. According to police, Siya and Chetan travelled together to Rajasthan just weeks before her engagement to Ketan.

There are, however, conflicting accounts of how the two first met. While some reports claim they met at a Diwali party last year, others say Siya first came into contact with Chetan while accompanying her brother, Sahil Goyal, to sports matches, before the two reconnected later.

Police have alleged that Ketan Agarwal was pushed to his death by Siya and Chetan on June 18. Investigators claim Siya initially tried to pass off the incident as an accident, but the subsequent probe revealed it to be a premeditated murder.

Ketan’s Family Demands Justice

Meanwhile, Ketan Agarwal’s family members and residents of their housing society held a candlelight march in Pimpri-Chinchwad to pay tribute to him. Participants carried placards demanding justice for Ketan.

A member of Ketan’s family said Siya had ample opportunity to refuse the marriage if she was unwilling to go ahead with it.

“When Siya Goyal’s entire family came regarding the wedding, they were told everything about Ketan. Nothing was hidden from them. If she had any issues, why didn’t she say so? She spent so much time with him—going out, dining together and doing everything—so why didn’t she raise any objections then?" the family member said.

“Our only question is: if she didn’t like our son, why didn’t she simply say ‘no’ on the very first day? We just want justice for our child and our family. That is all we expect from the government," the family member added.
