Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has directed officials to commence cotton procurement across the State from Wednesday through the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).
The Minister issued instructions to immediately operationalize 30 procurement centres to ensure that farmers do not suffer losses due to the cyclone’s impact and fluctuating market conditions. Mr. Atchannaidu stated that cotton was cultivated over 4.56 lakh hectares in the State during the 2025–26 season, with an estimated yield of nearly 8 lakh metric tonnes. The government would ensure that farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹8,110 per quintal as fixed by the Centre.
The Minister advised farmers to follow the prescribed procedures for selling their produce. Farmers must first register their details through Village Agriculture Assistants (VAAs) using the CM App at Rythu Seva Kendras. Subsequently, they should book slots through the “Kapas Kisan” app with the assistance of VAAs and sell cotton only through CCI-approved procurement centres (via ginning mills) that meet quality standards.
Mr. Atchannaidu instructed district agriculture and marketing officials to guide field-level staff and ensure full cooperation to farmers during the procurement process. He emphasized that strict monitoring should be maintained to complete cotton purchases smoothly and transparently across all centres.
