The Karunagappally Special Fast Track Court has sentenced a 65-year-old man to 40 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹40,000 in a Pocso case registered last year. Special Fast Track Court Judge Rajeevan Vachalil awarded the sentence to Sasidharan Pillai, residing at Manish Bhavan in Padinjattakkara Muri, Thevalakkara village. The court found him guilty of repeatedly abusing a nine-year-old girl during the last year.

The case was registered at the Chavara police station on April 28, 2025, following a formal complaint regarding the abuse. The investigation was headed by the then Chavara Police Inspector, Shajahan M., who gathered crucial evidence and completed the probe to file the chargesheet in court without delay. Senior Civil Police Officer (SCPO) Ranjith R. of the Chavara police station managed the case files throughout the process.

The timely completion of the investigation and the prompt submission of the chargesheet enabled the prosecution to fast-track the trial and present watertight evidence against the accused. Special public prosecutor N.C. Premachandran represented the prosecution during the trial, while Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Saleena Manju from the Kollam District Police Headquarters assisted the prosecution team.
