Cousin attacks woman with knife at Cortalim

Vasco: A 34-year-old woman, Shital Palekar, was allegedly attacked with a knife by her cousin on Sunday at Vollant, Cortalim, leaving her seriously injured. Her father was also hurt while trying to rescue her.According to a complaint by her father, Gokuldas Shirodkar, 66, the incident occurred around 9.45am on an internal road. Shital had stepped out to pluck flowers when the accused, Sushant Narshiv Shirodkar, 47, approached her.“The accused began abusing my daughter in obscene language and questioned her presence at her parental home, despite being married and residing at Carambolim,” the father stated.Police said the accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and not on cordial terms with the family, attacked her, striking her on the head and neck. Hearing her cries, the father intervened and was injured.Both were given medical assistance. PSI Mahesh Bhomkar is investigating under PI Anand Shirodkar and SP Gurudas Kadam.
