CPI-ML MLA held after filing papers in Siwan

CPI-ML MLA from the Darauli reserved constituency in Siwan district, Satyadeo Ram, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a 2005 ‘rail roko’ agitation, moments after he filed his nomination papers for the same seat in Siwan, reports Abhay Singh.

The arrest followed the execution of a permanent arrest warrant earlier issued by the Sonepur railway court. According to police sources, Ram had organised the ‘rail roko’ protest at Daraunda railway station in 2005 without permission from the railway authorities. The Sonepur railway court subsequently issued a permanent arrest warrant against him. “I was completely unaware of the permanent arrest warrant issued against me,” he said.
