Members of the All India Youth Federation wave black cloth at the motorcade of Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Munnar, Idukki, on Thursday.

Communist Party of India (CPI) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) activists waved black flags at Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Munnar town on Thursday. According to the police, the incident occurred at Ekka Nagar, near Munnar, in Idukki around noon on Thursday. Mr. Arlekar was on his way to the KTDC resort at Ekka Nagar after visiting Mattuppetty when the the activists lined up on both sides of the road, waved black flags, and tried to block the Governor’s vehicle. However, the police thwarted attempts to block the vehicle.

According to officials, Mr. Arlekar reached Munnar on Wednesday to attend a seminar organised by the Bharthiya Bhasha Samskrithi Kendra at Chinnakkanal, near Munnar, on Thursday.
