Crime intelligence model puts 530 heinous offenders under police surveillance in Faridabad

GURGAON: In a move to strengthen crime prevention, Faridabad Police has started monitoring habitual offenders through a Crime Intelligence Model, under which physical verification of 530 criminals involved in heinous crimes has been completed so far.The initiative aims to track the activities of repeat offenders and prevent crimes by maintaining updated records and continuous surveillance. A digital database containing details of criminals involved in serious offences over the past 10 years has been created under the project.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Kumar Mohan said the database includes details of offenders involved in crimes such as murder, attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity, snatching, extortion and cases under the Arms Act."A total of 3,499 such offenders have been identified in Faridabad district and their details have been shared with police teams at the station level. Verification teams are visiting their registered addresses and suspected locations to confirm their presence and collect information about their current activities." DCP said.Till June 15, police had verified 530 offenders. Of these, 351 were found living at their registered addresses, 67 were found lodged in different prisons, 17 were found dead, while 95 were missing from their listed addresses and are being traced.

Police officials said the database would help officers keep a close watch on criminals with a history of violent and organised crimes. The initiative is part of a wider project being implemented in four districts of Haryana - Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat and Faridabad."A digital database of 10,892 offenders across these districts has been prepared, containing details of their criminal history, addresses, activities and intelligence inputs."

DCP added.Officials added that in the past month, Faridabad Police arrested 12 criminals involved in serious offences, while three others were apprehended following encounters.The police said the technology-driven system will help improve intelligence gathering, strengthen investigations and enable timely action against criminal elements.
