Ronaldo scored two goals for Portugal on Wednesday against Hungary to take his goal tally to 41 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Cristiano Ronaldo loves breaking records. The 40-year-old footballer was in action for Portugal on Wednesday (October 14) in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier match against Hungary, and in the match that ended in a 2-2 draw, he entered his name in the history books by becoming the first player in the world to score 40 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He broke the record set by Guatemalan player Carlos Ruiz. Ruiz scored 39 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifiers for his national team.
Ronaldo scored a brace against Hungary on Wednesday to take his tally of goals to 41 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He opened his goal account in the 22nd minute of the match played at José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon and scored the second goal in the 45+3rd minute of the first half.
