KARIMNAGAR
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay expressed displeasure over the ‘sorry state of affairs’ in the Karimnagar civic body particularly the functioning of the public health department. Huge sums of money spent on the underground drainage and other civic works over the years literally has gone down the drain, he said.
He presided over the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Collectorate in Karimnagar on Wednesday.
Referring to complaints from denizens of the town over their civic grievances, he asked the Karimnagar Municipal Commissioner to constantly monitor the works taken up under the second phase of the Centre’s flagship urban development scheme – AMRUT.
Expressing concern over the delay in execution of works for drinking water improvement in the Karimnagar and Sircilla civic bodies, he wanted the officials to focus on speedy completion of the works by the year-end.
He reviewed the progress of development works and implementation of various Centrally-sponsored schemes during the review meeting.
