RAIPUR: CRPF’s courageous dog “EGO”, known for his role in detecting deadly IEDs and saving the lives of dozens of soldiers during anti-Naxal operations, was given a final farewell with full military honours at the 74th Battalion headquarters at Dornapal in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh's Bastar on Wednesday.The loyal and fearless service dog passed away on Oct 28, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, discipline, and devotion. His demise cast a sombre mood across the camp as officers and jawans gathered to pay their last respects to their beloved comrade.“EGO was not just a duty dog — he was a part of our battalion family,” said Commandant Himanshu Pandey. “His courage, loyalty, and dedication will always inspire us.”During his years of service, EGO played a vital role in several high-risk operations in the dense forests of Sukma and adjoining districts, helping avert multiple IED blasts.
Officials said his sharp instincts and alertness had saved “many lives that would otherwise have been lost.”The ceremony concluded with a floral tribute, a guard of honour, and a moment of silence — a fitting goodbye to a four-legged soldier whose service and sacrifice will forever be remembered in the annals of the CRPF’s history.With moist eyes and folded hands, personnel of CRPF's 74th Battalion, in Chhattisgarh's Bastar bid an emotional farewell to their courageous K-9 companion “EGO”.
