Cusat, CSL sign pact to set up centre of excellence

Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a centre of excellence in sustainable shipbuilding technology.

CSL will provide ₹3.53 crore for setting up the centre at the varsity. The project aimed to bridge the gap between the shipbuilding industry and academia, said a release issued here.

The centre will focus on software development, skill development, upskilling, and digitisation. It will provide state-of-the-art computing facilities and advanced marine software for research in naval architecture and related areas to promote innovation in ship design, shipbuilding, and advanced ship analysis.

CSL managing director Madhu S. Nair handed over the MoU to Cusat Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. Junaid Bushiri, the release said.
