Cyclone Montha intensifies over Bay of Bengal, to make landfall near Kakinada

Cyclone Montha, brewing over the Bay of Bengal, is set to make landfall near Kakinada on October 28, prompting a high alert in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for several parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai.

Andhra has launched full-scale preparedness with evacuations, relief stock positioning, and closure of beaches and schools in coastal areas. Odisha has begun evacuations across eight southern districts, deploying disaster response teams, while Telangana and Chennai are bracing for heavy rain and strong winds as the system moves northwestward.
