A recently unveiled teaser for 'Dacoit' featuring a reimagined track from 'Hello Brother' ignited discussions surrounding composer Koti's lack of prior notice. Producer Supriya Yarlagadda stepped in to clear the air, indicating that while permissions were obtained from the audio company, Koti wasn't informed, which led to some confusion. Fortunately, both parties managed to settle their differences without hard feelings.
The teaser for the highly anticipated action-romance Dacoit has sparked a major industry conversation regarding the ethics of song recreations. While the use of the iconic 'Kannepettaro Kannu Kottaro' remix—originally from Nagarjuna’s 1994 hit 'Hello Brother'—was a hit with fans, it led to a public disagreement with legendary composer Koti.
Koti says he was not informed
At an earlier event, Koti said informing the original composer when a song is recreated was basic courtesy, as per an India Today report. According to him, this courtesy was not extended in this case. Koti shared that informing the original composer when recreating a song was basic courtesy and that it had not happened.Later, during a press meet, Adivi Sesh spoke about how the remix idea came into the teaser. He said the suggestion came from producer Supriya Yarlagadda.
The filmmaker later responded to the issue. She said Koti’s feelings were valid. She also explained that the production had taken all the needed permissions and NOCs from the audio company.
Filmmakers meet Koti to clear the air
However, she said the audio company did not inform Koti about the remix. Because of that, the misunderstanding occurred. Supriya said, “We went to his house to discuss the matter personally, and both of them ended up laughing about the whole process.”
With respect to the song, it was composed by the famous duo Raj–Koti. The new remix used in the teaser was rearranged by composer Gyaani. The track kept the original voices of S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and K. S. Chithra. Aditya Music released the remix on December 18, 2025. Many viewers loved it. Several people even said the song was a big reason why the teaser worked so well.
