Demanding the State government to completely ban RSS activities in Karnataka, the members of the district unit of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) staged a protest in Kalaburagi city on Saturday.

A protest led by Samiti State convener Arjun Bhadre and activist R.K. Hudgi displayed a banner with the slogan “RSS – world’s most dangerous Virus”. The agitators urged the Siddaramaiah-led government to impose a complete ban on RSS activities, including Shakhas, Sanghiks, and baithaks, in the interest of the well-being of the nation’s young minds and society as a whole.

Mr. Bhadre noted that the RSS organisation was banned thrice in the past by the Central government, and later the ban was lifted every time. In 1948, the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel issued a government notification banning RSS following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi; and in 1975, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi banned RSS during the emergency, and in 1992, former Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao imposed a ban on RSS after the demolition of the Babri Masjid, he added.
