Danapur court clerk shot at by bike-borne criminals, personal rivalry suspected

Patna: Unidentified bike-borne assailants shot at and injured a clerk of Danapur court near Usri Mor under Shahpur police station area on Monday morning.According to police, the victim, identified as Upendra Kumar, son of Vijendra Singh and a resident of Dhibra near Saguna Mor, was ambushed while returning to his village.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers opened fire without warning, hitting Upendra in the neck and right shoulder.Local residents gathered at the spot upon hearing gunshots and alerted the police. Police officers soon arrived there and rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital. He is out of danger and able to speak, they said.City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh, along with Danapur ASP Shivam Dhakad and local police, also visited the crime spot for investigation. “The incident occurred around 10.30 am. Two men on a motorcycle fired at the victim. Based on preliminary findings, the attack appears to be linked to a personal dispute,” said SP Singh.Police have recorded Upendra’s statement, in which he named the attackers—both reportedly employed as clerks. The police are reviewing footages of CCTV cameras from the nearby areas while continuing their investigation.
