The dance ballet Sapthagirula Vaibhavam (The Glory of the Seven Hills) beautifully showcased the verdant, mystic, sacred, and serendipitous essence of the Tirumala hills.
Performed during the annual cultural festival Sravana Sangeetha Lahari, organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya on the school premises at the foot of Tirumala hills, the ballet enthralled the audience on Friday.
The performance highlighted the mythological significance of the seven hills — Seshadri, Garudadri, Venkatadri, Narayanadri, Vrishabhadri, Vrishadri, and Anjanadri — collectively known as the Seshachala hills, along with their numerous other appellations. In a creative touch, the students also drew parallels between the hills and the pranic energy centres in the human body. The harmonious blend of melody and rhythm in the ballet received a thunderous response from the audience.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Director N. Satyanarayana Raju expressed his commitment to fostering interest in classical music and dance among students through such events and noted the growing enthusiasm for the festival among the public.
Renowned writer Julakanti Balasubrahmanyam appreciated Bhavan’s Tirupati Kendra for organising the annual book festival, which encourages a reading culture among the younger generation. The event also featured addresses by SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Uma Vennam, renowned vocalist and retired professor Dwaram Lakshmi, and SVIMS University Dean Alladi Mohan, who shared their insights and appreciation for the students’ performance.
