This year’s Dasara Flower Show at Kuppanna Park, located in the heart of Mysuru city, promises a spectacular experience for visitors with a variety of attractions and displays.
With its detailed floral creations, thematic displays, and events, the Dasara Flower Show is all set to charm local residents and tourists alike.
Commencing on Monday, the Flower Show, an integral part of the grand Dasara festivities, is one of the most popular events of the annual celebrations, drawing large crowds every year. Spread over 10 acres, Kuppanna Park, also known as Nishad Bagh, is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors daily to witness the elaborate flower decorations, ornamental plants, and special attractions.
The centrepiece of the show, located inside the Glass House, is a floral representation of the Mahatma Gandhi Museum in Kanyakumari, created using over three lakh roses. Flower designers and decorators are putting the finishing touches to this awe-inspiring installation, which is expected to captivate visitors.
Among the highlights include the displays that portray the importance and benefits of the government’s five guarantee schemes — Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, Shakti, Anna Bhagya, and Yuva Nidhi.
In a tribute to India’s armed forces for the success of Operation Sindhoor, floral designs in the form of an army truck, fighter jet, and naval ship have been created using roses, chrysanthemums, and other flowers.
Standalone attractions include a statue of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, an elephant with Ambari, the Navadurga, a theme promoting Earth conservation, Thandi Sadak, and Children’s Park, created with varieties of flowers.
The Department of Horticulture has nurtured over 60,000 flowering plants in the park, including zinnia, petunia, French marigold, cockscomb, anthurium, pentas, carnation, oxalis, aster, button chrysanthemum, dahlia, and many more. All the flowering pots will be arranged aesthetically throughout the show, adding to the visual appeal of the floral displays.
Various stalls showcasing agricultural products, equipment, and initiatives for farmers will be available. The ‘Sasya Santhe’ will offer plants grown by the Department at subsidised rates. Also, plants sourced from industries and organisations such as BEML and JK Tyres will be on display.
Officials from the Horticulture Department and Mysore Horticultural Society will also visit schools, colleges, industries, and other locations to select the best designs for competitions organised as part of the Dasara Flower Show.
Daily competitions for visitors include rangoli, pushpa rangoli, flower decoration, vegetable cutting, ikebana, painting, and other interactive events, in a bid to provide a fun and engaging experience for all.
